Not like a Shimano or Daiwa but they function like they are supposed to.I don’t know what your budget is but all of these combo’s are less than 80$ and all of them work for me.I don’t know what cheap is to you but some of the more name brand combo’s would start at 400$and go up from there .All of my reels were bought pre -tariff and most have doubled in price .Having said that still considerably cheaper than buying in the us.I think rod, reel, line ,and lure require more fine tuning than a regular baitcast setup.But open water crappie fishing in my opinion would be the simplest to begin to learn bfs
